About this formula

This is Holle Bio-Folgemilch 3 aus Ziegenmilch in the German-language 400 g pack. Holle labels it as follow-on formula from 10 months, as part of a mixed diet of bottle feeds and solid meals. It is made with organic whole goat milk from Demeter (biodynamic) farming; Holle gives the Demeter share of the ingredients as 74% and says the milk is from Germany.

The carbohydrates named in the ingredient list are lactose, maltodextrin and starch. The oils are sunflower and rapeseed oil, plus oil from the microalga Schizochytrium sp., which Holle names as the DHA source; no palm oil is listed. Folate is added as folic acid. Holle's shop shows the EU organic logo for this product and gives Germany as the country of origin.

Selected nutrition, per 100 ml

Holle's shop gives these values per 100 ml of prepared formula (the amount of powder and water is in the feeding table on the pack): 67 kcal, fat 3.5 g, carbohydrate 7.5 g (lactose 5.0 g, starch 0.5 g), protein 1.4 g, DHA 14 mg. No ARA value is listed.

The ingredient list begins: whole goat milk, lactose, whole goat milk powder, vegetable oils (sunflower, rapeseed), maltodextrin, starch, all from organic farming. Holle notes that 100 g of powder is made from 323 ml of whole milk. The full ingredient and nutrition panel is on the pack.

Preparing and storing

Follow the full preparation instructions and feeding table printed on your pack; this is a summary, not a replacement. Holle's shop says to store the closed pack away from heat; the best-before date is stamped on the base.

Powdered formula is not sterile. The CDC advises extra care for babies younger than 2 months, born prematurely or with a weakened immune system; ask your pediatrician how to prepare feeds for them. Once opened, Holle says to keep the powder dry, not in the fridge, and to use it within 3 weeks.

Important information

  • Product information, not medical advice. Breastfeeding is recommended. Talk to your pediatrician about feeding your baby and before you start or switch formula.
  • This is the German edition, labelled for that market. Our page summarises the label's key facts in English. If the pack you receive differs from this page, or any instruction is unclear, do not use it and contact us.
  • Age on the listing: from 10 months. Follow the age printed on the pack.
  • Follow-on formula is never for babies under 6 months.
  • Goat's milk formula is not suitable for babies with cows' milk allergy.
  • Powdered formula is not sterile. For babies under 2 months, born prematurely or with a weakened immune system, ask your pediatrician whether a sterile ready-to-feed formula is better and which preparation steps to take.
  • Packaging may change. We will not send a different edition, stage, recipe or allergen profile without your agreement. Brand names are trademarks of their owners; Formuworld is an independent retailer and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the maker.

Three things every tin tells you

  1. Its own scoop

Use only the scoop packed in that tin, filled loosely and levelled. Scoops differ in size between makers and editions.

  2. Its own table

Water per bottle and scoops per bottle come from the feeding table printed on that tin, by age.

  3. Its own timing

Make each bottle just before the feed and follow the tin on how long a made-up bottle may stand.

Powdered formula is not sterile. The CDC advises extra care for babies younger than 2 months, born prematurely or with a weakened immune system; ask your pediatrician how to prepare feeds for them.

Before the first bottle

The tin is the instruction.

Each maker sets its own scoop size and water ratio, and editions of the same formula can differ. Use the scoop that comes with your Holle tin and that tin's own preparation table, never another brand's or edition's, and ask your pediatrician about preparation.
