Holle
Stage 1 Organic Formula (Cow) (400g)
This is Holle Bio-Anfangsmilch 1 in the German-language 400 g pack. Holle labels it as infant formula for use from birth, made with organic skimmed cow's milk from Demeter (biodynamic) farming; Holle gives the Demeter share of the ingredients as 67% and says the milk is from Germany.
The ingredient list names lactose as the main carbohydrate. The oils are palm, sunflower and rapeseed oil, plus oil from the microalga Schizochytrium sp. and oil from Mortierella alpina; folate is added as folic acid. Holle's shop shows the EU organic logo for this product and gives Germany as the country of origin.
Holle's shop gives these values per 100 ml of prepared formula (the amount of powder and water is in the feeding table on the pack): 68 kcal, fat 3.4 g, carbohydrate 8.0 g (lactose 8.0 g), protein 1.4 g, DHA 15 mg, ARA 15 mg.
The ingredient list begins: skimmed milk, whey product (partly demineralised whey powder), vegetable oils (palm, sunflower, rapeseed), lactose, skimmed milk powder, all from organic farming. The full ingredient and nutrition panel is on the pack.
Follow the full preparation instructions and feeding table printed on your pack; this is a summary, not a replacement. Holle's shop says to store the closed pack away from heat; the best-before date is stamped on the base.
Powdered formula is not sterile. The CDC advises extra care for babies younger than 2 months, born prematurely or with a weakened immune system; ask your pediatrician how to prepare feeds for them. Once opened, Holle says to keep the powder dry, not in the fridge, and to use it within 3 weeks.

Three things every tin tells you
Its own scoop
Use only the scoop packed in that tin, filled loosely and levelled. Scoops differ in size between makers and editions.
Its own table
Water per bottle and scoops per bottle come from the feeding table printed on that tin, by age.
Its own timing
Make each bottle just before the feed and follow the tin on how long a made-up bottle may stand.
Powdered formula is not sterile. The CDC advises extra care for babies younger than 2 months, born prematurely or with a weakened immune system; ask your pediatrician how to prepare feeds for them.
Before the first bottle
Each maker sets its own scoop size and water ratio, and editions of the same formula can differ. Use the scoop that comes with your Holle tin and that tin's own preparation table, never another brand's or edition's, and ask your pediatrician about preparation.
